Bio

Elisabetta Patorno, MD, DrPH, is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and Director of the Program on the Pharmacoepidemiology of Metabolic Diseases (PROMISE) at in the Division of Pharmacoepidemiology and Pharmacoeconomics at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Her work focuses on the assessment of the safety and effectiveness of therapeutics as used in routine settings of care of real-world patients, including pregnant women and older adults. Her major clinical areas of interest include the pharmacoepidemiology of diabetes and neurological diseases. She has also particular interest in the advancement of epidemiologic and statistical methods to improve causal inference in pharmacoepidemiological studies using real-world data, with a particular emphasis on study design and propensity score methodology for confounding adjustment.
