Association Between Opioid Use and the Development of Diverticulitis

OS0001

Overview

Background
  • Opioid use is a potential risk factor for diverticulitis.
  • However, evidence on the association between opioid analgesics and diverticulitis is limited.
Objectives
  • The overall aim of this study is to evaluate the feasibility of, and subsequently conduct, an observational study to evaluate whether short-term and sustained opioid use are associated with elevated risks of diverticulitis in patients indicated for treatment with opioids.
