Gary Teare

Bio

Dr. Gary Teare joined the Health Quality Council (Saskatoon, SK) in January 2005 as Director of Quality Measurement and Analysis and as of April 2015 became the Chief Executive Officer. He is Adjunct Professor in the College of Medicine and in the School of Public Health, University of Saskatchewan; Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto (Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation); and, Affiliate Scientist at the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences in Toronto.

Dr. Teare has been principal investigator for the Saskatchewan site of the Canadian Network for Observational Drug Effect Studies (DSEN-CNODES) since its inception.  He participated as Site Liaison and co-author on several of the CNODES studies and is a member of the Data Base and Knowledge Translation Teams.

Dr. Teare is a member of the Provincial Leadership Team (PLT) of the Saskatchewan health care system (comprised of Deputy Minister of Health, health region and provincial health organization CEOs and Board Chairs, and physician leaders). He is co-principal investigator for the Saskatchewan CIHR Strategy for Patient-Oriented Research SUPPORT Unit.  He served on the Institute Advisory Board of the CIHR Institute of Aging 2008-2013 and is has served on several expert working groups for the Canadian Institute for Health Information during the past 15 years. Dr. Teare has authored/co-authored over 60 peer-reviewed publications in the fields of health services and health care quality and safety research.  He earned degrees in Veterinary Medicine (DVM), Immunology (MSc) and Epidemiology (PhD).
